NOLIA ROOTS WELCOMES LIZ BREGMAN, COMMUNITY + PR INTERN
WHAT IS YOUR ROLE AT NOLIA ROOTS AND WHAT DO YOU DO?
I am the Community + PR Intern for Nolia and with that role, I will work with the clients and the rest of the team on social media content creation and PR campaigns. I will help develop the marketing and PR strategies for clients and convey their company values and message. I will also look at the analytical side of campaign performance.
WHAT’S YOUR GREATEST MOMENT — WHETHER IN WORK, SCHOOL, OR BUSINESS — SO FAR?
My greatest moment so far has probably been joining AKPsi, my business fraternity. It was a draining but incredibly rewarding experience that has already made me a better leader and business professional in my short time at Miami. It is the reason I have this internship and also the reason why I decided to step outside my comfort zone and apply for internships.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT YOUR JOB?/WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED FOR?
I am most excited to gain hands-on experience in marketing and PR while working for a team that really cares about their client and collaboration. I am excited for not only the client work side of this internship but also the Learning and Development aspect as I don’t have much experience in this field.
WHAT MOTIVATES YOU?
Working in a team and being able to collaborate really motivates me.
WHO DO YOU LOVE TO FOLLOW ON TWITTER OR INSTAGRAM AND WHY?
I love to follow creative people on Instagram. I love to sew and crochet and just all crafts in general so I really enjoy seeing how people show off their creativity differently within the same medium.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY?
Probably my iPad. I take it with me everywhere and use it for taking notes, sending emails, and just doodling when I have free time. It’s so much easier to carry around than my laptop and I can do more on it than my phone.
WHAT’S ONE APP OR GADGET YOU THINK NEEDS TO BE INVENTED?
One app or gadget that needs to be invented is notes integration that lets you organize every aspect of your life. I currently use Notion and I love it but it lacks in certain functions that I really wish it had better integration of a calendar.
WHERE CAN SOMEONE FIND YOU ON A DAY YOU’RE NOT AT SCHOOL OR WORK?
When I’m not at school or work, I am usually working out or doing some kind of craft. I have gotten really into working out at school and trying to go as much as I can. I go to the gym and use the free weights/ machines on most mornings and if I have free time throughout the day I like to go rock climbing. If I’m not working out, I’m usually crafting. I have a big box of yarn under my desk that I like to make something with when I have alone time. We also have a big craft center on campus so I am there a lot using the embroidery machine, sewing machine, or Circuit.
WHAT’S THE BEST BOOK YOU’VE READ RECENTLY?
Currently, I am reading a book called Conscious Closet by Elizabeth Cline that discusses how to make your closet more sustainable.
WHAT ARE YOUR PODCAST RECOMMENDATIONS?
I like listening to conversational podcasts that I can play while working out or doing homework. I listen to a lot of interviews of Youtubers or celebrities I like. Recently, I have started listening to It’s Been a Minute with Sam Sanders and Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me on NPR.
WHAT’S ONE THING YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT?
Probably my phone. It’s really bad but I definitely have a slight addiction to my phone. It has gotten better now that I have found more activities to keep me busy in college but it’s how I stay connected to friends and family back home so I am on it more often than I probably should be.
WHAT’S THE MOST INTERESTING ITEM ON YOUR DESK?
I have a jar of crochet hooks of all different sizes.
