NOLIA ROOTS WELCOMES AYDA SOW, ACCOUNT COORDINATOR INTERN

WHAT IS YOUR ROLE AT NOLIA ROOTS AND WHAT DO YOU DO?

I am the Account Coordinator Intern here at Nolia and I hope to help manage clients and how they work with our internal intern team. I’m excited to plan and schedule all the essential meetings our clients have to build a product that is best suited for them!

WHAT’S YOUR GREATEST MOMENT — WHETHER IN WORK, SCHOOL, OR BUSINESS — SO FAR?

Currently, my greatest moment has been building my One Thread project. Although we’ve launched several amazing campaigns like our Homeless Care Kit donation and our Tote Bag campaign, my favorite one has been leading our Mask Making Campaign. Together, we involved over 30 student volunteers in the summer of 2020 after the first major COVID-19 outbreak. We were able to hand make and donate 2,500+ masks to schools, health centers, and shelters across the nation.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT YOUR JOB?/WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED FOR?

My favorite thing about this job is working with others. I love being able to collaborate with my team and learn more about our amazing clients. I’m most excited to grow my understanding of various industries, expand my marketing knowledge, and work with other interns to build successful strategies for clients!

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU?

Little daily accomplishments motivate me. I used to look at my major milestones as a way to provide me the endurance to push until I make another major milestone. However, I learned that major milestones take so much time to complete, and finding something to be grateful for every day, like a meal I’ve cooked for myself or hitting the gym, has been so much more motivating and inspiring.

WHO DO YOU LOVE TO FOLLOW ON TWITTER OR INSTAGRAM AND WHY?

I love following Arden Cho on social media because she’s one of my childhood role models. Seeing her through her actress, model, entrepreneur life with a humble and easy-going personality inspires me to embody such characteristics.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY?

My favorite piece of technology is my phone as it stores my favorite memories, my daily to-do’s, and keeps me connected with those out of reach.

WHAT’S ONE APP OR GADGET YOU THINK NEEDS TO BE INVENTED?

Something I can’t wait to see come to reality is an app that can scan across multiple brands and stores to let me know where I can find the cheapest price of an item, especially for everyday items like groceries. Especially since I’m a broke college student, I value price over quality and would love to know where to get the cheapest items I need!

WHERE CAN SOMEONE FIND YOU ON A DAY YOU’RE NOT AT SCHOOL OR WORK?

On a completely free day, I’d probably go on a picnic to get away from the city. I’d love to just lie down on a picnic blanket in the middle of a big patch of grass on a nice ‘not-to-hot’ and ‘not-to-cold’ kind of day and let my mind drift away

WHAT’S THE BEST BOOK YOU’VE READ RECENTLY?

Recently, I’ve been reading Miracle Creek by Angie Kim.

WHAT ARE YOUR PODCAST RECOMMENDATIONS?

I normally don’t listen to podcasts, but the last one I enjoyed was an Advanced Conversational Chinese one to help me improve my mother tongue.

WHAT’S ONE THING YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT?

I can’t live without music, whether it is playing it or just listening.

WHAT’S THE MOST INTERESTING ITEM ON YOUR DESK?

The most interesting item on my desk is a small, vintage clock that my friend gave me from her trip to Europe.
